Diane Denoir

Diane Denoir

Diane Denoir has been played on NTS shows including Homeshake, with Tú Andarás first played on 16 September 2016.

Born in Uruguay of Austrian parents, she is a non well known artist that started her career during the 60´s and continues to be an important icon of popular music in her country today. Her beginning as a singer was accompanied by the composer and guitarrist Eduardo Mateo, how composed many songs for her. She made her debut at the age of 19, in 1966, and from the beginning she was recognized for the way she sang bossa nova and popular songs. Her vocals remind the style of singers like Astrud Gilberto and Francoise Hardy. Her discography includes a first single in 1966: "Diane Denoir", "Down the road/Drummer Man", another single released in 1970, her only LP of the time "Diane Denoir" recorded in 1972 in a vinyl edition that was released again as a CD in 2005, "Inéditas" where she and Eduardo Mateo work together (1998) and her last album "Quién te viera" of 2008. The 2005 "Diane Denoir" CD version made the critic turn their attention to the singer, that had been ignored for many years. 12 songs reedited by the Argentine label "Índice Virgen", made justice for the singer, who was forced to disappear from the scene during the 70´s due to the military dictatorship.
