Southern Bred

Southern Bred

Southern Bred has been played on NTS shows including Weekend Read w/ Jonah Rabb, with ATL (Instrumental) first played on 26 January 2018.

SOUTHERN BRED the group consist of two members: Derrick (Dirty Dog) and Rod (Bruno) , who are both from the Alabama area, both with a lot of talent and writing skills that clearly stand out from the rest. That's right . WE ARE FROM THE DIRTY SOUTH! Southern Bred's first album "Off the Chain The group started their rap careers in the late 90's with the underground hit "Paper Green", which was a hot song later to be released as a single on their first album "Straight Off Da Chain". The album was distributed through Select-O-Hits out of Memphis. The artist gained lots of hood fame as their first album was moved in stores through the southeast region of the US. Killa Bruno later moved to Atlanta to try to find a spot for the Bred in the big leagues. While in Atlanta, Suth-n-Bred was introduced to an independent label known as Ricky D. Records. As they begin to make connections and gained spins on Atlanta radio stations, they realize that due to lack of management and promotion, they would not succeed like they expected. The group then networked with some people at Wabejon Entertainment out of Atlanta. While with Wabejon, Suth-n-Bred had the chance to work with some real musicians such as Donnie, who played base for Outkast, and D. Woods (known as Juanita), who is now a member of Sean "Puffy" Combs' band. After submitting some songs to Jive Records and actually sitting down with VP Jimmy Manor, things were looking up for the artist. But what they wanted from tha Bred wasn't what we were about. Three years later and a lot stronger, Suth-n-Bred literally said, "Fuck it", and started their own company that was solely built around them. They wanted to lock down the "Heart of the South" and increase their fan base. So they started to do lots of collaborations with the group Dirty (Pimp and Gangsta). This turned out to be the best move for the Bred because Dirty had some of the same ideas and the same drive. Their trademark (the black and white confederate flag) represents their struggle in the streets, life, and the music industry. The original flag symbolizes how the south use to hold brothers and sisters back by using slavery. The new flag saying we as a people are not going to take it anymore. We are going to get where we need to be by any means necessary. For the Bred, its music. With their "hit home" lyrics and high powered producers (Big Pimp of Dirty, L Bow Keys, and Chub Fresh), the new album, Country Life 365, is sure to impress all the people in this Hip-Hop movement.
