Tewelde Redda is from Eritrea, a country just north of Ethiopia and may well have been one of the first people in Africa to start playing an electric guitar back in the 60s. He was one of the more important figures in the modernisation of Ethiopian/Eritrean music in the 60s and 70s. Eritreans spent a very long time fighting for independence and Tewelde has actually been living in Holland as a refugee since 1989.
