Gloria Becker and the Ho Hums made it in to the Billboard charts in 1955 with the song Sixteen Pounds. It is a parody based on the hit Sixteen Tons sung by "Tennessee" Ernie Ford.
Gloria was well known in southern Arizona as Gloria Sanchez in the late 1930's having her own radio show at age 8. Gloria made several other recordings including burrito joe in the late 1940's and early 1950's. She retired from performing in 2004.
