They Live

They Live

They Live has been played on NTS in shows including Field Work, featured first on 12 January 2019. Songs played include Pure Palms.

1) Death Punk band from Minneapolis 2) Joe Seven and Consequence 3) Powerviolence band from Buffalo 4) Norwegian Doom band 5) Fictional Belgian band, featuring in movie 'Belgica'

1) Drawing influence from 80's goth bands like The Cure and Joy Division, as well as more hardcore bands like Samhain and Black Flag, They Live's music showcases a dark, unrelenting and at times highly melodic sound that is sure to be a breath of fresh air to listeners tired of that passive nancy boy sound that's been all the rage these past few years. They Live has been playing in the twin cities and the midwest in general for four years now. In August of 2005 they released the "Wolf Attack" single and began playing shows with new drummer Greg Johnson. 2006 saw them playing out a lot more and achieving a degree of local success before heading into the studio to record their debut EP "No Escape". They Live's music has been described as "not hardcore,screamo,pop-rock,metal or emo, but a balance of old school misfits and tragic rock 'n' roll". Give them a listen and decide for yourself.

2) A collaboration between electronic music producers Joe Seven and Consequence. Their debut album was released in March 2011 on dBridge's Exit Records, titled Cancel Standard . A single, Pure Palms / Don't Know What To Say, was released in Feburary 2011 on Autonomic. A follow-up album was released on Exit Records.

3) Fast hardcore band from Buffalo, New York beginning in the late '90s (and currently on hiatus) that drew heavy influence from Infest and the Japanese legends. One cross-country tour with ragers No Time Left in 2001 and multiple weekends during its existence, which has always involved guitarist/vocalist/(studio) drummer Eric Ellman and a cast of others. 7"s on 625 Productions, Tooth Decay and Ugly Pop, a demo re-released on Midget Room, and an LP on 625. Members connected with: The Failure's Union, Avulsion, Corpus Dei, La Cacahoutte, Robot Has Werewolf Hand, Cages, Crappy Dracula, Columbian Necktie, No Time Left, Solutions, Still x Ill, The Grail, Grade Grubbers, Running For Cover. Real damned crushers. (Note: the "related bands" and the majority of the tracks below are from this THEY LIVE)

4) They live, we sleep

5) A made up band by the Dewaele Brothers (a.o. Soulwax) for the Belgian movie Belgica, which features a soundtrack of different fictional bands. They Live play 'The Cookie Crumbles' and their style is described as “psychobilly madness”.
