Otis Sandsjö

Otis Sandsjö

Otis Sandsjö has been played on NTS in shows including Phil's Jazz Dis-Junction, featured first on 6 April 2019. Songs played include OOMY, LOOMY and YUNG.

Berlin-based Swedish saxophonist/composer Otis Sandsjö (b. 1987), is from Gothenburg, Sweden.

Previously known for his work on singer Lucia Cadotsch's globe-trotting trio formation "Speak Low," Sandsjö joined forces with keyboardist Elias Stemeseder, bassist Petter Eldh and drummer Tilo Weber for his 2018 debut album album, Y-OTIS. This collection comprised eight originals written by Sandsjö and produced by Sandsjö and Eldh. Informed by hiphop and electronic music, Y-OTIS combines Sandjö's circular sax riffs in chopped-up jazz which stays melodic and beat-laden while being "free" right to the edge of avant-garde.
