Birgit Lystager (b.1946) is a Danish vocal artist, carrying the lucky combination of the true Scandinavian sound, mixed with international appeal and flavour. Her recorded material contains both jazz and bossanova, as well as pop and sophisticated ballads. DJs from all over the world have met her records with enjoyment, and have been touched by the resemblance to Karen Carpenter or even Astrud Gilberto. And because of that, her music has been known almost worldwide. Birgit Lystager has a mature but still light diction; her voice is an instrument itself. Recently a 7-CD-box containing most of her career's work so far has been released on the Danish label Salut Entertainment, with many fine pieces of standard pop-material, together with true Danish and latin-inspired compositions. Birgit Lystager has recorded in both Danish and English.
