Gunārs Rozenbergs (1947 - 2009) was a legendary jazz trumpeter, bandleader, arranger and composer from Rīga, Latvia. Considered by many to be the finest jazz instrumentalist to ever come out of the Soviet jazz scene, Rozenbergs was at the front of most jazz culture developments in Soviet Russia and later in independent Latvia.
Throughout his long lasting career since 1965 Rozenbergs played in many bands both as a leader and as a sideman, also acting as an arranger for many Latvian composers, including Raimonds Pauls.
In 1976 he recorded Laura - a jazz fusion album that still stands as a landmark recording of Soviet jazz scene.
