She won the prestigious Filmfare Award in 1970 for her rendention of Baat Zara Hai Aapas ki..in "Jahan Pyar Miley".

She is one of the few female singers in India who made her presence felt in the "Mangeshkar -dominated" Hindi Music Industry.
