There are at least two bands under this name:

1.) Monster X is a straight-edge hardcore band from Albany, New York in the mid-90s who eschewed the genre's typical moshcore sound in favor of harsh, guttural grindcore. They were also notable for their thoughtful lyrics, which tackled political and philosophical questions as well as the personal quest to live drug-free. In particular, their support for drug legalization and their firm anti-religious stance set them apart from the straight-edge mainstream.
