Paprika Soul

Paprika Soul

Paprika Soul has been played on NTS shows including The NTS Breakfast Show w/ Zakia, with Come With Me (Soul Stream) first played on 19 January 2020.

Paprika Soul is:

Andy Spiller: Keyboards & Drum Programming Malcom McFarlane: Guitar Poli Cousse: Sax Sarah Newell: Vocals Christine Glen: Vocals Phil Mulford: Bass Herve Gamilen: Sax

Co-Producer and brains behind the band is Andy Spiller. His credentials run deep, having worked alongside artists such as Lighthouse Family, Mark Morrison, Diana Carroll and Shola Ama, as well as, in his earlier days, Gloria Gaynor and Brooker Newbury III.

Also in the production seat is Alan Barnes, founding member of Soft Sugar Productions and co-creator of Paprika Soul. His knowledge and experience of high quality jazz and Dance music has contributed largely to choice of songs, style and flavor for this set.

Scottish born guitarist Malcom McFarlane built his career playing sessions for Matt Bianco, NJYO before joining and touring worldwide with Skakatak.

Alongside Malcom McFarlane, Phil Mulford provides a rock solid bass groove. Phil's pedegree has been finally developed through his work with Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Nelson Rangell and Morrissey Mullen. The sac section is in good hands providing that European Jazz musicians can more than hold their own with the best in the world. Check out Poli Cousse's searing solo on "Skindo Le Le" for instance. Hailing from Belgium, Poli's career spans an amazing range of legendary artists including Liza Minelli, Sammy Davis, Jr. Barry White and Dexy's Midnight Runners. Sharing duties on sax is Frenchman Herve Gamilen, a young talent now drafted in as a permanent member of Paprika Soul team.

Last but not least, on the vocals we have Sarah Newell, a talented singer who is equally at home in a Jazz or R&B setting and Christine Glen, a Canadian based in London, renowned for her session work all across Europe.
