In 1991, after the breakup of D'ERLANGER, KYO started as a solo project. The first release of the solo project, “NOTHINGNESS TO REVOLUTION”, featured the unit “OPTIC NERVE” consisting of YUKIHIRO and Murohime Shinobu, to which TAKASHI joined to form the band.
KYO originally planned to name the band “DIE IN CRIES,” which means “three expressions” in German, in order to express the missing parts of “joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure,” but eventually decided on “DIE IN CRIES” from the lyrics of “Cries And Whispers,” a song by Rain Tree Crow (the band when Japan reformed). DIE IN CRIES” from the lyrics of the song ‘Cries And Whispers’ by Rain Tree Crow (the band that reunited Japan).
The band gained popularity through D'ERLANGER and ZI:KILL, and even performed successfully at the Nippon Budokan in 1993, but after a temporary hiatus the following year, the band disbanded in 1995 after a show at Tokyo Bay NK Hall on July 2, 1995, following the release of “Seeds”.
Following their breakup, in 1997 the members all went on to play in other bands. The most prominant and well known of these is most likely Yukihiro who was recruited to play for the popular band L'arc~en~ciel. Kyo, Shin and Takashi all went on to form BUG, with Shin later leaving to play for SPIN and the session band Creature Creature featuring Morrie of DEAD END and Tetsu of L'arc~en~Ciel.
