Bananagun

Bananagun has been played on NTS shows including Hot Mess, with People Talk Too much first played on 24 May 2020.

Drawing heavily from vintage psychedelia including Tropicalia, '70s Afro-beat, and summery retro-pop, Bananagun emerged out of Melbourne, Australia, in the late 2010s. After garnering acclaim for their 2019 EP, the group issued their debut album, The True Story of Bananagun in 2020.

Naming the Monks and Os Mutantes among their most direct inspirations, Bananagun grew out of the demos of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Van Bakel and later included members of Parsnip and Frowning Clouds. Their first song, "Do Yeah," arrived on Australian indie Anti Fade Records in early 2019. The song opened their three-track debut EP of the same name, which followed on Full Time Hobby later the same year. Within a year, the band had completed work on their full-length debut, expanding the scope of their colorful global fusion on 2020's The True Story of Bananagun. .
