Dorsal Atlântica is a Brazilian thrash metal band, founded in Rio de Janeiro, in 1983.
They are pioneers of the Brazilian Thrash Metal scene, being acknowledged as an influence to many other bands including Sepultura and Korzus.
The band's first work appears on the split album Ultimatum with another Rio de Janeiro-based band, Metalmorphosis, in 1984. Afterwards, Dorsal Atlântica released a string of studio albums from 1984 to 1996, before breaking up in 1997. After that they've returned ONLY to re-record their first album ANTES DO FIM renamed ANTES DO FIM, DEPOIS DO FIM in 2005. After a hiatus the band fully came back with the release of the album 2012. (self-explanatory title). As of 2018 their last album is Canudos (released by the final of 2017).
Most their lyrics is written in Portuguese. Only some of their work contains two languages (English/Portuguese), and only one album is fully in English.
