Blank Forms: Behind The Cosmos
New York, 23.12.23
Atrás Del Cosmos—often referred to as Mexico’s first free jazz group—borrowed their name from the movie theater (Cine Cosmos) adjacent to their studio. The group, composed of Ana Ruiz, Henry West, Evry Mann, and Claudio Enriquez, were linchpins of the Mexico City creative community, organizing shows, importing outré sounds, and inviting Don and Moki Cherry to host an “organic music” workshop in the mid-’70s. In anticipation of next year's reissue of the cassette Cold Drinks, Hot Dreams (1980) on Blank Forms Editions, this mix features forthcoming tracks and spiritual affinities demonstrating the far reaching nature of cosmic music from past to present from Japan to Mexico.
