Death Is Not The End - The Seven Great Singing Stars: 1930s & 40s Shanghai Pop

This month edition is a focus on a group of Shanghai pop singers who were collectively referred to as The Seven Great Great Singing Stars during the 1930s and 40s. Their were Zhou Xuan, Gong Qiuxia, Yao Lee, Bai Hong, Bai Guang, Li Xianglan and Wu Yingyin, and they came to dominate the Chinese pop industry during the years of Shanghai's Japanese occupation. Later, after the Chinese revolution, much of the artists' music would be denounced as pornopgraphy by the CCP, with many fleeing to Hong Kong.
