¡ay, caray como duele!
This playlist is my homage to some of the women in the Ranchera genre. To me, Rancheras are the ultimate heartbreak genre. I wanted to share some of my favorite songs, but more than that, showcase the incredibly talented singers and tried to pick songs that demonstrated the vocal talent and range of each artist. I also wanted to give a big nod to someone who is incredibly special to me: Juan Gabriel. He was a very prolific writer and collaborated with many singers who made full albums with songs he wrote. Another person who is also very special to me and to this genre is, Chavela Vargas. This playlist is made for the women and queers who’s interpretations gave a whole other meaning to Ranchera music.
