This month’s show features the great Senegalese singer, Kiné Lam, a legendary figure who participated in the the early formation of mbalax in the late 1908s and 1990s and collaborated with everyone from Youssou Ndour to previous LABOUR NTS guest Dial Mbaye, and formed her own band called Le Kaggu (the library). Opening with the well known track ‘Man Bamba’ from her 1989 release ‘Cheihk Anta Mbacke’, this show continues into her 1995 release ‘Borom Taïf’ before featuring several tracks from 1997’s ‘Sunu Thiossane 2’ whose instrumentation includes the xalam played here by both Malick Soce and Abou Guisse, plus the track Bamba from 1996’s ‘Deurbi’ which includes previous guest Mbaye Dieye Faye on sabar.
