Marshall Allen is a truly living legend of jazz. Born in 1924, he was alive for the fruition of the genre. He fought in World War II and studied alto saxophone in a Paris he helped liberate. He joined Sun Ra on his Arkestra, an afrofuturist project that would span decades. He turns 100 years old today, 25th May 2024.
