TOMMASI - Spiritual Contemplation Special w/ Örlygur
Iceland, 26.01.22
The show is made in collaboration with my friend and colleague in composition studies, Örlygur Steinar Arnalds
(He is a musician, composer, and sound creator, a part of the bands Sideproject, Korter-í-flog, to name only a few..)
A spiritual, transcendent contemplation on beauty. The transitions between the songs have become songs within themselves.
The hymns of the past, and the hymns of the future
It is made in a deep listening, contemplative, monastic spirit. Cathartic sounds for deep winter. Weaving contemporary peaces with ones written a thousand years ago, they are connected by this spirit of contemplation, and human perception of beauty..
featuringSigrún, Joanna Brouk, Hildegard von Bingen, Berglind María Tómasdóttir, Pavel Milyakov & Yana Pavlova
The show is centred by female composers, starting with our local contemporaries and weaving them with ancient composers of medieval hymns such as Hildegard von Bingen (a female composer and legend from 1098)
and Perotinus (born 1160)and blended with newer (20th century) composers, of all genders, in the same contemplative spirit, such as Morton Feldman, Gorecki, Harold Budd…
