Memories of travel or yesterday, cultures and languages, a pinch of nostalgia, surprises or confusion, dancing or resting, finding connections, a beat, a melody, digging through the record collection and seeing what happens…a mixture of songs I found joy in, like I had when I was watching whales.

British Library Sound Archive - Charles and Heather Myers' Field Recordings

A selection of field recordings from the collection of Heather and Charles Myers. Heather and Charles met through their shared love of field recording and their activity with the Wildlife Sound Recording Society. The couple’s collection spans over three decades with over 5,000 recordings on 559 open reel tapes. This 60 minute selection features only a few of their skilfully recorded soundscapes with wildlife, environmental and machine-made sounds as well as commentary from the couple throughout, a celebration of their lives in stereo. Selection and mix by Greg Green.
