The Dread Broadcasting Corporation was a pirate radio station broadcasting in the early 1980s, founded by DJ Lepke. It was run by and for the black community, soon expanding from its reggae roots to a wide range of musical styles.
A Tribute to DBC took place at The Museum of London between 21st-23rd November, as part of Culture Mile Nights – and this NTS Radio show was the final event.
The first hour of the show is made up of two 30 minute exclusive and unheard clips from DBC archives - one from Lepke (DBC Founder) and one from Dr Watt. The second hour is label head and broadcaster Rockers LDN in conversation with Jah Youth and CAYA, discussing soundsystem past, present and future. Special thanks to Museum of London & DBC family for the archive clips - Collette, Lewis & Mike.
