The outré hip-hop duo credited for putting Atlanta on the map, Outkast were renowned for bringing a flair for the theatrical to hip-hop during the mid nineties, inspired as they were by their flamboyant funk forebears: Sly, Parliament-Funkadelic, Prince et al.
After a streak of both critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums in the '90s and '00s, Andre 3000 and Big Boi moved onto solo careers, after the name Outkast had long become synonymous with musical eclecticism and infectious melody.
