This episode focuses on a true maverick of late 70’s Japanese Jazz, the free improvisation player Kaoru Abe. Abe was a ferocious player, who dropped out of school at 17 and would appear almost every day at jazz spots. His discography consists almost entirely of archival and live recordings.
