While the rest of their electronic music contemporaries in the late 1990s reached for dancefloor ecstacy and big room bombast, French duo Air paved an influential path with a more delicate and atmospheric sound. Taking inspiration from old school film composers and vintage synthesiser wizards like Burt Bacharach, Isao Tomita and Vangelis, they shot to success with a distinct sonic world. Techno Bass

Manchester-based label Kaizen has already seen releases from the likes of Silas and Snare, Surgeon and Biome. Co-founder Madam X heads up the label showcase once a month to delve into the murky ends of the UK's grime and techno scenes.
