While the rest of their electronic music contemporaries in the late 1990s reached for dancefloor ecstacy and big room bombast, French duo Air paved an influential path with a more delicate and atmospheric sound. Taking inspiration from old school film composers and vintage synthesiser wizards like Burt Bacharach, Isao Tomita and Vangelis, they shot to success with a distinct sonic world. New Wave Synth Pop Indie Rock

Former frontwoman of rock outfit Dum Dum Girls eschews the pseudonym with her new solo project, Kristin Kontrol. Newly relocated to LA, Kristin delivers a monthly mix of expansive and hypnotic sounds: one part Durutti Column to two parts Alice Coltrane.
