Labour w/ Thio Mbaye

This month’s show features the great living sabar player and bandleader, Thio Mbaye. Hailing from Kaolack and based in Dakar, Thio Mbaye remains a legend and highly sought-after performer to this day. In addition to his own music and many collaborations, Thio Mbaye is known for bringing the tannebier (sabar drum event) from the streets into the nightclub, dubbed the 'Soirée Sénégalaise'. This show features much of his debut album from 1993, Rimbax, plus his percussion work for collaborators and previous guests of this show, Souleymane Faye and Coumba Gawlo on their albums Sogui (1991) and Deweneti (1994), respectively, before closing with two of the hottest tracks in Dakar this month from both Ashs The Best and previous guest Titi (aka Ndeye Fatou Tine).
