Labour w/ Hani Mojtahedy

LABOUR present and contextualise their newly released piece featuring renowned Kurdish / Persian vocalist Hani Mojtahedy titled, nine-sum sorcery, the first release on their own imprint, Studio LABOUR. This long form piece draws heavily on two seemingly disparate traditions: traditional Kurdish and Persian vocal & instrumental musics, and the more recent computer music & avant-garde sound practice in the west and beyond. Throughout this mix, you can find both aesthetic and formal references to the compositional ideas, as well as favourite pieces of musics from LABOUR (Farahnaz Hatam and Colin Hacklander) and Hani Mojtahedy, and a full listen to the 30 minute piece, in two parts. nine-sum sorcery debuted at Berlin Atonal 2019 on the main stage and was released November 18th, 2020 as is the first LP of LABOUR. Limited edition transparent 180g vinyl is available exclusively through their Bandcamp, as are the black vinyl and digital formats.
