LABOUR w/ Ya Cheikh
DAKAR, 25.02.23
Continuing from the energy of last month’s show, this month features the
great senegalese singer Ya Cheikh with two excellent albums from the early
nineties: ‘CFA’ from 1990 featuring previous guest Bada Seck on sabar —
including some replays from last months here contextualised within the full
original album — and ‘Nuyoo’ from 1992 featuring previous guest El-Hadji
Faye on sabar and djembe. In between albums is El-Hadji Faye’s own
praise to Cheikh Ibra Fall, and closing the show are two fresh tracks from
Dakar’s hottest: Wally B. Seck’s ‘Why Not’ released last week, and Aida
Samb’s ‘Djirim’ dropped on Wednesday.
