Mississippi Records

Mississippi Records is an independent archival record label that has been releasing music by totally original (and as a result, often overlooked) artists for nearly 20 years. The label is dedicated to working directly with artists and their families, securing their legal rights, and creating equitable documents of their work to share with the world.

Mississippi works across genres, regions, and timelines. The music we’re drawn to is often created outside of existing commercial industries. It’s the work of visionary artists with something urgent and original to say. And it’s sustained by, and in turn nourishes, communities that extend beyond the music. We recognize this brilliant music is not created in a vacuum, and we’re dedicated to understanding and uplifting the stories around the art.
