Beginning his career working in non-fiction and documentary filmmaking, Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski soon became drawn to the possibilities of fiction, exploring the deep moral anxieties of his creations. Firstly through explicitly political works like "Personnel" and "No End", and then through more universally human studies, like "Dekalog", and his famous "Three Colours" Trilogy".
Kubrick said of Kieślowski: "[he has] the very rare ability to dramatise their ideas rather than just talking about them. They do this with such dazzling skill, you never see the ideas coming, and don’t realise until later how profoundly they have reached your heart.”
