Subject To Change w/ Timmhotep - The Sa-Ra Special
New York, 12.06.24
As Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Shafiq Husayn, Taz Arnold, and Om’Mas Keith brought an emphatically afrofuturstic approach to music that was as inspired by Sun-Ra and P-Funk as it was by hip-hop and LA’s Ultra Wave scene. They were stylish, experimental, eccentric, and eclectic— making them a foundational inspiration for a new generation of Black kids on the internet with those same traits. In this episode I explore their work and influence through their songs and joints they featured on and produced for others. This is Sa-Ra!
