"Sam Wilkes’ sophomore LP is entirely derived from one improvisational recording session from June 26th 2020. Wilkes on fender bass, two drummers, a Maestro Rhythm King drum machine, and, later, two synthesists, began playing one repetitive theme that led to two subsequent movements of improvisation. To connect the frameable moments of the 30 minute piece, Wilkes decided to destroy the audio of predetermined sections of the music through tape, sampling, and effects experiments. The intention to find new music through an immersive process. The result is One Theme & Subsequent Improvisation.
