Pastys at the ready for an hour of Cornish music of all flavours in celebration of St. Piran's Day, the national day of Cornwall. The story goes: Piran, divinely blessed with the powers of healing, is envied by the King in 6th Century Ireland. A millstone is tied round Piran's neck, and he is tossed into the Irish Sea. Calm seas lead him ashore at Perranporth, where he establishes himself as a hermit. He founds an oratory, the remains of which still stand, and people flock from all over the land to speak with him, and witness him perform miracles.

In the 60s and 70s, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were a major part of the new comedy era, and Peter Cook was probably one of those who was the most responsible for the change in direction of comedy. He wrote a couple of well received revues for the West End, Pieces of Eight, and then One over the Eight, and then with Moore, Jonathon Miller and Alan Bennett, wrote and starred in Beyond the Fringe, the show that finally killed…
