In Focus: Flying Nun Records
Dunedin, 13.12.21
Founded in Christchurch, in 1981 by record store manager Roger Shepherd, Flying Nun Records championed dozens of weird and wonderful bands, birthed in the relative cultural isolation of '80s New Zealand. The label became famous for the "Dunedin sound", a style of indie rock named after the South NZ university town where many of the bands were formed. Guitars were jangly, and drenched in reverb.
Enter the wonderful world of Flying Nun Records on this In Focus, featuring two hours of indie rock from the bottom of the world.
