In Focus: Mad Professor

Focus on Mad Professor

A pivotal figure of the second revolutionary wave in dub music, the Mad Professor, otherwise known as Neal Fraser, began producing lover's rock records at a young age for the likes of Ranking Ann & Tony Benjamin, from Ariwa, his home studios in South London. He truly lived up to his name, vastly expanding the sonic template of dub and reggae to include digital and non traditional sounds. Like all true innovators, the Professor's experiments drew some detractors from the purist old guard, but he was embraced by the pop mainstream, most famously collaborating with Bristol trip hop act Massive Attack on remix album "No Protection" in the early 90s.

This In Focus is an hour and a half of the Professor's best work.
