In the current world of distress, music has a critical role in our ability to experience joy. These songs transport me to those experiences - the freedom of my youth, getting off a long shift, or the excitement of love, to name a few. Regardless, they all ingrain the joy in me that never left.

Mississippi-born Opera singer Leontyne Price's career was a long list of firsts and pioneering breakthroughs, including being the first African American opera singer to perform on television, becoming one of the most recorded opera singers of all time, and receiving upwards of 20 Grammy awards.
