NTS Guide to: Indie Sleaze 2k24

Lurid, trashy, 00s: indie sleaze. A phrase coined by fashion magazines to reference a contemporary reimagining of noughties fashion, a resurgence of interest in Hedi Slimane’s era-defining drainpipe denim and the angular guitar music associated with it.
The actual sound of the ‘indie sleaze’ revival extends well beyond the tired guitar music tropes from which it gets its namesake. Like new rave did before it, this loose set of producers and bands bring together a disparate set of influences from 21st century styles: turn-of-the-century electroclash, low brow Eurodance and the moody inflections of 2010s witch house.
